Pam Zollman is the award-winning author of 40 children’s books and numerous short stories and articles. Her middle-grade novel Don’t Bug Me! (Holiday House, 2001) has been translated into other languages. It was a Sunshine State Young Reader book, in the Florida Battle of the Books, and was one of Bank Street College of Education’s Best Books of 2002. A Chick Grows Up (Scholastic, 2005) was an honor book for the Maryland Blue Crab Readers Choice Award in 2006. Many of her books are included on school and library reading lists, and her Life Cycle series for Scholastic have been translated into Spanish. Her short story, “Millie’s Garden,” won first place in Highlights for Children’s annual fiction contest in 1996.
Pam has been a technical editor for Boeing Aerospace Company (Houston, TX), a contract editor for St. Luke’s Hospital (Houston, TX), a freelance editor for Harcourt, Steck-Vaughn, and McGraw-Hill, and was a staff editor for Highlights for Children Magazine. She has taught writing classes in Houston, TX, for Leisure Learning Center and for Tomball College, and in Scranton, PA, for the University of Marywood. She also speaks regularly at writers’ conferences across the country, critiques manuscripts, and judges in writing contests. She has been an active member of the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators (on both a local and national basis), and is a charter member of Romance Writers of America (where she served as chapter president).
She is the founder of The Writer's Plot (formerly AnAuthor World), which is both a place and a program to support the arts. She now teaches classes through The Writer's Plot. AnAuthor World, which opened its doors in June 2009, has held two writing and illustrating conferences. AAW has also hosted an international children’s illustrators exhibit in conjunction with Hargis Art Gallery in November 2009 and joined with the Greenville Children’s Museum to host Highlights Magazine Day in March 2010. AAW held three writing camps for kids during the 2010 summer.
In September 2010, she started AnAuthor World Community for writers, illustrators, teachers, librarians, editors, agents, bookstore employees, and anyone who is interested in books. This group meets on the third Saturday of every month and features a speaker at each meeting.
Because there were problems with people spelling AnAuthor World incorrectly (and not being able to find it on the internet), AnAuthor World Community decided to change its name to The Writer's Plot in January 2012.
